The streets of bread’ exhibition at Athens International Airport

Athens International Airport ‘Eleftherios Venizelos’ and the European Bread Museum welcome travelers and visitors to the airport to a new exhibition ‘The streets of bread’ (14 May – 31 August), a fascinating tour in the world of bread, the customs and its heritage preservation.

Through the many photographic material of the exhibition of traditional and ’embroidered’ breads based on customs (the cycle of life and time) from Greece and abroad, the cultivation of land, sowing, the harvest, the milling and baking bread transform into a work of art. Inextricably linked with the environment and art, with respect to ‘mother earth’, the exhibition aims to highlight and to save the cultural heritage. Grain, an important asset for the people of the world while sacred product of the Mediterranean is reflected in the exhibits with the best way.

The exhibition is accessible in 24 hours basis in ‘Environment and Culture’ hall at the mezzanine departures level  (Entry 3).

The European Bread Museum, unique in its kind, is located in the Attica, Barnabas City, Marathon. The exhibits are the largest collection of traditional and embroidered bread in Europe. One thousand five hundred loaves of bread from Greece and forty countries around the world adorn the museum. Part of its collection travels every year to exhibitions entitled ‘The streets of bread’ in cities of Greece and abroad.
